Established in 1890 the club has moved to the present course in 1906 and was the first 18-hole course in Clackmannanshire. After some initial construction, the club secured the services of Ben Sayers to complete the task of laying out the course. It was Ben Sayers who decided that due to the nature of the terrain bunkers would not be required, which is still the case today
There have over the years been alterations to the layout but 12 of the holes are more or less as originally laid out. The signature hole is regarded as the 2nd which is only 97 yards but is a blind shot to an elevated green and failure to get up the hill can cost shots. The course itself enjoys beautiful views along the Devon valley and whilst not a great length offers a challenge to golfers of all ranges of ability.
The clubhouse is an impressive sandstone building at the top of West Burnside and offers a full range of facilities, including a full sized snooker table. Visitors are welcome throughout the year. Located in the town of Dollar the course is signposted off the A91 Stirling St Andrews road at the bridge beside the clock tower
