Description:	It was at a meeting in the Public Hall of Callander on 27th September 1889, that a group of professional and businessmen at the request of ‘ CERTAIN VISITORS AND OTHERS’ decided to form a golf club. Old Tom Morris (St Andrews) advised on the layout of the course located at ‘Muir of Gart’ (where Cambusmore sand and gravel quarry is now) and Old Tom was invited to attend the official opening of the Club on the 7th June 1890. Although popular, the location of the course 1 mile east of Callander, made it prohibitive for visitors to play so a new location had to be found. In 1892/3 a new location was found on the sight of the present course. This was ideally suited as the new course was now located just north of the railway station. With no time lost, nine holes were duly prepared once again under the supervision of Old Tom Morris.
